Osmo Wood Protector (4006D) is a clear, penetrating preservative treatment for exterior timber that provides protection against blue stain fungi, mould, and wood-destroying insects. It is used as a pre-treatment before applying Osmo exterior finishes, ensuring the timber is protected from biological attack before the decorative top coat is applied.
Particularly recommended for use on new softwood timber, pressure-treated timber, or any exterior wood in high-risk environments. Compatible with all Osmo exterior oil and colour finishes.
- Finish: Clear — pre-treatment, not a decorative finish
- Coverage: Approx. 8–12 m² per litre
- Application: Brush, applied generously to all surfaces including end grain
- Coats required: 1–2 coats pre-treatment + Osmo exterior top coat once dry
- Suitable for: Exterior softwood cladding, fences, garden furniture, sheds, and joinery
- Properties: Fungicidal, insecticidal, penetrating, clear
- Drying time: Approx. 24 hours before top coat
